Participatory Methodologies
We believe that communities can judge their need
as well as find solutions to their problems.
Active involvement of local communities
especially women in its programs right from the
need identification to planning , implementation
and maintenance stage, to ensure ownership and
sustainability.
Knowledge building
Entails engaging in critical and systematic
study of issues and institutions, which
encourages or discourage a citizen from
participating in democratic process. New
knowledge is aimed at social change involving
partnership with the beneficiaries. Before
taking any initiative PDN/PES firstly conduct
intensive research on the subject & problem. We
also widely disseminate lessen learnt by the
projects. We believe in learning from our own
experiences , successes and failures, as well as
those of others. This is the essence of
PES/PDN’s philosophy “ Knowledge is power”.
Facilitation
PES/PDN is not a “doer” but is a facilitator and
acts as catalyst for running the development
process. We facilitate communities to solve
their own problems.
Capacity building
We firmly believe that we can not eradicate
poverty by giving moneys but we can eradicate it
by enhancing the capacity. A wide variety of
methods are used in enhancing and strengthening
capacity at individual and institutional level.
Advocacy
It entails influencing policies. Policy advocacy
It entails influencing policies from the vantage
point of enabling participation and empowerment
of the marginalized by systematic and ongoing
monitoring of existing policies, their
implementation of like minded individuals and
organizations to facilitate dialogues across
different perspectives and players and
establishes linkages and accountability between
micro macro issues.
